Trainer Portal Installation Step 1 - Install / Check IIS

Alert

It is important that an experienced IT resource is available to manage this process.

Ensure that the .NET Framework version 4.5 is installed on the server machine. It must be the full version (not the Client Profile version). .NET Framework 4.5 can be downloaded from Microsoft at:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=30653

Ensure that Internet Information Services (IIS) is installed on the server machine. At a minimum, the IIS Management Console and ASP.NET (4.5) components (which will automatically include its dependencies such as .NET Extensibility, ISAPI Extensions and ISAPI Filters) must be installed. Additional IIS features may be installed if desired, but are not required by the VETtrak Trainer Portal.

.NET 4.5 is not available for machines running Server 2003 or Windows XP.

To install .NET 4.5 on a Server 2012 or Windows 8 machine, you will need to add the ASP.NET components, using these instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2736284

Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10

In Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, you can install IIS 7, 7.5 or 8, or check the installation, by going to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off.

Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2

In Windows Server 2008, IIS 7 or 7.5 can be installed or the installation checked by going to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Server Manager > Roles, and adding or editing the Web Server (IIS) role.

Windows Server 2012

In Windows Server 2012, IIS 8 can be installed by opening the Server Manager, going to the Manage menu, selecting Add Roles and Features, and adding the Web Server (IIS) role. For details, refer to:
